Designer Shoes
What’s So Special About Designer Shoes
Shoes . . . the mere mention of the word is enough to send thousands of women scrambling for their credit cards determined to add yet another pair to their ever growing collection in the shoe closet, the bottom of the wardrobe, under the bed, behind the sofa . . . . some women (and men, don’t forget the men) are completely obsessed by shoes. Okay, so if you say “designer shoes” you can just imagine the response. A friend of mine who shall remain nameless (let’s call her JL so that she knows for sure that I’m talking about her) has enough designer shoe boxes in her closet to build a bedroom extension . . . which is quite handy really, cos with all those shoes she definitely needs one. She doesn’t even wear half of her designer shoes, she just opens up the boxes and gazes at them admiringly (some of them aren’t even in her size, but don’t tell her I told you so . . . the designer shoes might look more dainty in size 5 but her feet are closer to a size 8 . . . who does she think she’s kidding?)
Designer Shoes
So what is so special about designer shoes, apart from you being able to drop in that you’ve just bought yourself the most divine pair of Jimmy Choo’s (bless you!). Are designer shoes really worth the extra money, if you were thinking of actually wearing them? Why are designer shoes so much more expensive than your normal high street shoes?
- Designer shoes materials – the special skins and leathers used in many designer shoes are very expensive to start with, much more than the basic black leather used in cheaper shoes, or the “leather look” plastics which are used at the lower end of the shoe market. The price of designer shoe accessories is also higher . . . Swarovski crystals don’t come cheap you know, they cost a lot more than your average rhinestone.
- Designer shoes quality – what many people don’t realize is the amount of time, talent and energy which goes in to making every single pair of designer shoes. Forget the sweatshops and machines on the streets of some far flung country, designer shoes are generally hand crafted by properly trained, creative, talented people, and that’s not even counting the designer who actually designed the designer shoes. Talent costs money you know, and every time you see a pair of exquisite, “must have” designer shoes just stop to think about the amount of time and talent which has gone into making them . . . just before you whip out your credit card.
- Designer shoes name – is it all in the name? Some “savvy shoppers” are patient and clever enough to find designer shoes at discount prices . . . after all, designer shoes are pretty much seasonal right, and the real big spenders and fashion aficionados are not interested in last years designs . . . . they’re so, well . . . last year! Some shoe designers are happy for their shoes to be sold on a discount prices in retail outlets across the country so if you are patient then you really can bag yourself a designer shoe bargain.
Designer Shoe Styles For All Occasions
Shoe styles change very quickly, from the outrageous sequined platforms of the 1970′s to the under-stated ballet flats which have become popular in the last few years (much to the relief of the medical centers and outpatient hospitals departments). The fashion of wearing exceptionally high heels . . . even whilst pregnant . . . has been blamed for the alleged back problems of some rather high profile celebrities these days. Well, you’d think that common sense would tell them that if their designer shoes are so high that they can’t even walk in them properly then it ain’t doing their posture any good . . . or their bodies.
- Designer shoes with ankle straps - these designer shoes or sandals with ankle straps, collars or cuffs have set the pulses racing this summer.
- Designer espadrilles – Spanish style from the beach to the catwalk.
- Designer peep toe shoes – always popular . . . just one question, is it okay to wear pantyhose with peep toe shoes? Jury is still out on that one I’m afraid.
- Designer slingback shoes – always around in some form or another, and always sexy. Modern slingbacks are often accompanied by frighteningly high heels, often with a concealed platform too. No wonder women look taller and taller.
- Designer pumps – no self respecting woman’s wardrobe is complete with a good selection of pumps . . . preferably in every color. You see, designer shoes really do come in many different styles.
There are plenty more styles of designer shoes to choose from, but hopefully that’ll give you just some idea of the types of designer shoes available. The right shoe can make or break an outfit, and when you think about how many “old school” types judge a person by the state of their shoes . . . shoes really do say something about the wearer. What are your shoes saying about you?
Aren’t some those fabulous? They look better with feet in them though, it gives you more of an idea of what they’ll really look like!
Wowee, that’s what I call a pair of platform boots!
